On the beautiful Gull Lake chain of lakes,
Lake Shore was founded as a village in 1930.
In 1947, it was incorporated as city.
The town is 18 square miles, and primarily
a residential vacation area rich in resort history. Stories (such as Sinclair Lewis spending a summer at Sherwood Forest working on a novel) abound. Rumor has it, Ma Barker and her boys hid out there at one time.
